Little Silver

In the 1800s Little Silver consisted mostly of farms, woods, and saltwater marshes. Today, this beautiful Shrewsbury River waterfront town offers a Main Street with shops, restaurants and parks. The riverfront location makes Little Silver a popular destination for boaters with a public boat ramp at the Dominick F. Santelle Park off Riverview Avenue. Little Silver is known for its outstanding school system, and the beautifully restored railroad station is a national landmark.

Middletown

Officially founded in 1664, the Township of Middletown is one of the seats of colonial America. Today it is the largest municipality in Monmouth County and one of the biggest in the state of New Jersey. With approximately 67,000 residents, 42 square miles, and nearly 350 plus years of history Middletown has it all. Five historic districts, Brookdale Community College, an acclaimed library and a celebrated Arts Center make us a hub for arts, education and culture. A volunteer force of nearly 1,500 residents serving the community is not only the hallmark of Middletown but a testament to our sense of community. Middletown has over 70 of our own municipal parks, several beaches, rolling countryside landscapes and lakeside communities. With more than 20 schools, 11 firehouses, multiple business centers and easy commuter access to nearby New York City by boat, rail, or bus, plus world class Sloan Kettering Medical Facility, it’s no wonder why Middletown has been named a top town to live in time and time again.

Monmouth Beach

The borough of Monmouth Beach was first settled in 1668 and grew into a community with the arrival of the Long Branch and Sea Shore Railroad and incorporated as a borough in 1906. A small beach community encompassing one square mile offers fishing, as well as surfing waves. Nestled along the Shrewsbury River, it is a popular place for boaters, kayaks and birders. The Monmouth Beach Cultural Center hosts art exhibits and events and is currently exhibiting the works of the Art Society of Monmouth County.

Oceanport

Incorporated in 1920, and predominantly a residential community along the shores of the Shrewsbury River, it is home to Monmouth Park Racetrack and Fort Monmouth. Though only 3.2 square miles, Oceanport’s nearly six thousand residents enjoy not only the Shrewsbury River, but various recreational sports programs, an active senior group and a true feeling of community. Oceanport boasts various volunteer organizations who give countless hours to the community making it a place residents are proud to call home.

Red Bank

Incorporated in 1908, the Borough of Red Bank is located on the Navesink River and has served as the area’s original transportation route to the ocean and other ports. Red Bank offers distinguished fine art galleries, world class shopping, gourmet and casual dining, performing arts and waterfront lodging. Every Saturday night the sidewalks come to life with performances by local musicians and artists. Check out Fitness in the Park, Movies in the Park, Jazz in the Park, weekly Farmer’s Market and Annual Sidewalk Sale in August.

Rumson

Located along the shores of the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers, Rumson is known for its beautiful estates and water views. Originally a summer home destination for upscale suburban wealthy New York bankers and industrialists, Rumson boasts six parks, a public boat ramp and historic Bingham Hall Community Center home to the Garden Club, Women’s Club, Boy Scout and Rumson Recreation.

Shrewsbury

Nestled in the northeast section of Monmouth County, Shrewsbury consists of approximately 2.3 square miles and is primarily a residential community. Shrewsbury was settled in 1662 as one of the Two Towns of the Navesink.

Sea Bright

Located on a barrier peninsula that separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers, Sea Bright encompasses just over 1 square mile. Boasting a large public municipal beach in the center of town along with 7 members-only beach clubs, Sea Bright is best known for its shoreline and its unprotected beach areas.

Tinton Falls

Tinton Falls is a large suburban community located in Eastern Monmouth County, settled in 1665 as one of the first ironworks in the area. The Borough comprises 15.6 square miles and is bordered by nine other municipalities. Tinton Falls, the namesake for the Monmouth County town where it’s found, is a waterfall gem. Visitors will find that the falls can be easily viewed from a wooden overlook platform off Tinton Avenue. Tinton Falls is also home to the highest waterfalls on the New Jersey Coastal plain.
