Supporting Local Students

Our mission is to provide scholarships and grants to support non-traditional students in earning diplomas or certifications that will help them achieve their professional goals.

Thanks to the generosity of EMACC members and our supportive community, the Foundation has raised and distributed over $429,000 in scholarships and grants to worthy applicants in the Monmouth County region since our inception in 1998. In 2023, the Foundation awarded nine scholarships for a total of $21,000.

Recipient Testimonial

To the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce (EMACC) and its Scholarship Committee Members:

My name is Christopher Palma and I was the recipient of two EMACC scholarships while completing my undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey from 2014 to 2019. Since then, I have not only worked in Engineering at General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB) in Groton, CT but also completed a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens in 2022. As an Engineer at EB I worked on projects in support of Submarine design, development, and construction for the U.S. Navy for over four years. On Monday, March 4, 2024 I will be starting a new position as an Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in Livermore, CA supporting research and development of National Security products for the United States.

During this time (2015-2024), I also served the Eastern Monmouth Area as a Volunteer Firefighter in Little Silver. The service that I completed no doubt has had a positive impact on my community and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I cannot thank the Scholarship Committee enough and EMACC for your support of my studies, particularly in the face of ever-increasing tuition at colleges and universities in the United States. I attribute success in my educational and career goals to your backing of me and more importantly towards helping to make it possible to focus on my work rather than be overwhelmed by the staggering cost.

More recently, I have been able to return the favor and contribute a small sum towards the Scholarship Fund. It is my hope that I will be able to contribute further and support the vital work that you do to help members of the area further educate themselves.

Respectfully submitted,

Christopher M. Palma
