East Village Opera Company (7:00AM)
Monmouth University Pollak Theatre Presents: Eastern Village Opera House This 11-piece band propels the emotion and musicality of opera into the 21st century. Inventive, hard-hitting arrangements like "La Donna Mobile" from Rigoletto and "Habanera" from Carmen mesmerize audiences with non-stop energy and dynamic gestures. This untraditional opera company was celebrated at the 2006 Emmy's with an award for their PBS Special, "EVOC LIVE." "Both opera and rock fans are attracted to them because they show respect to the music they are co-opting" Colleen Long, Seattle Times. "Electrifies the classics for a new generation." Steve Smith, Time Out New York

2009: Predicting the Unpredictable
Even in these difficult, unpredictable financial times, one top economist is among those being recognized for having his finger on the pulse of the economy - Joel L. Naroff. Mr. Naroff recently received the 2008 Lawrence R. Klein Award from the Nobel Prize-winning economist for whom the award is named. This award is given to the top forecaster over a four year period. Mr. Naroff is frequently quoted in the national media and he was also named Forecaster of the Year by MSNBC.com in 2006, by the National Association for Business Economics in 2007 and by Bloomberg Business News in 2008. He has also been recognized as a top forecaster by USA Today.
This will be Mr. Naroff's second appearance before the members of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce. Back now by popular demand, Mr. Naroff was the featured speaker at an EMACC Small Business Council breakfast in June, 2008 where he received a standing ovation for his entertaining, straight forward and insightful predictions.
