Established in 1667, the Borough of Little Silver has grown considerably from its early days as Parkerville, named for the farming Parker family whose descendents are still part of the community. The Parker homestead was recently deeded to the town and is being renovated as a historical site on several acres of land. Many multi-generational families can claim ancestry going back to the farmers, fishermen, nurserymen and pioneering merchants of the village's earliest times.

Many New York commuters who want the best of both worlds choose Little Silver as their country homes for its convenient location on the railroad. The newly renovated railroad station is a legacy from bygone days. Other Little Silver buildings on the New Jersey Registry and National Register of historic places rub shoulders with upscale shops and quaint eating establishments in the busy downtown area.

With twisted miles of shoreline and inlets along its peninsula waterfront properties, Little Silver legends abound of buried pirate treasure Alas, none has been found. Little Silver children, have plenty to do in their fine schools and out-of-school recreational program activities .
